A tribute to Independence Rock XXII

A thousand black shirts wave and shout,
a mix of adrenaline and ecstasy comes pumping out,
with a stratocaster around his neck the leather clad pied piper weaves a web of magic,
old melodies hold sway and the rats turn nostalgic,
deep purple and pink is the colour of the night,
on this black sabbath day the thumping drums show their might,
two and twenty years have passed since the seeds of independence rock were sown,
ensnaring all in its majestic glory its tribe has splendidly grown,
to the scorching riffs and melodic solos even the deaf must succumb,
its only fitting then to say...I have become comfortably numb!

Death Whispered A Lullaby

There are times when old memories gnaw a deep hole,
Needle and pins become reflections of my soul,
Sunset streaks the horizon like a funeral fire in the sky,
Stars twinkling above become embers that glow and die,
A mask of serenity painted on his face he lay in the cold shroud of death,
Arms folded across the chest bravely embracing his destiny he slept,
A pain sweeps across my being and all I see is a deep dark schism,
Our togetherness shattered by death like a beam of light through a prism,
Farewell old friend you were a kind soul like no other,
Tears fill my eyes and all I can say is - See you in another life brother..

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

I seek solace in the land of fantasy,
Reminiscing about the days gone by - full of rapture and ecstasy,
How I wish I could turn back time,
And be with the one I once called mine,
But as I lay here gazing at the setting sun,
I feel my love begin to burn,
A silent tear slids down my cheek,
The sunset reminds me of my life ever so bleak..

The torment within

What do you do when you have to make a difficult choice,
You scream at the world but there's no one to hear your voice,
Do you fight the tide or go with the flow,
Close the curtains or carry on with the show,
When you've had your fill but your heart's still begging for more,
Know this - The hardest part of holding on is letting it go.

The memory remains

I know a girl with the sweetest smile,
for one glimpse of her I walk a hundred miles,
her pretty eyes make my heart skip a beat,
to match her beauty would be an impossible feat,
she is so near and yet so very far,
her loving memories in my mind even time cannot mar..

Distance

There lives a maiden far far away,
whose unparalled beauty has me held in a sway,
I seek solace in the land of fantasy,
each moment spent there with her akin to ecstasy,
with every passing breath all I can think of is her warm smile,
how I wish I could be with her if only for a while..

The Crucifix

In the land of happiness blooms a flower of despair,
Love's labour lost in the abscence of care,
Utopia shatters into a million tiny shards,
Great beauty it once held now permanently marred,
There is no greater sorrow than love that ends in a loss,
Your head tells you to move on, but your heart's nailed to the cross..

The Last Caress

Over the high mountains there hangs a cold mist,
Where even the bravest soul would shudder and twist,
the foul air around was pungeant and vile,
yet there walked a broken man with a broad smile,
blessed was he for his heart was pure,
bitten by a bug no herb would cure,
his love had died leaving him distraught,
to follow her to valhalla the only thing he sought,
on and on he pressed carrying a wreath,
till atlast he found the sweet caress of death..
