While cupid's axe gently cleaves

Words I sang were all I'd got,
Chocolates and flowers and a passion burning hot,
Sweet were your words laced with love,
Higher and higher my heart soared like a white dove,
Hands clasped we walked into a million sunsets,
Soft moonlight on our skins we lay on the beach in beads of sweat,
Looking into your eyes so big and brown,
As I remember those days all I can do is frown,
It took but a day to undo our long bond,
Fragile as crystal and delicate as a frond,
There are certain choices never easy to make,
Evil things done that put love on a burning stake,
The door to the treasure of love is never left ajar,
You may have won the battle, but you've lost the war..
